Finally had a second to get back to this. Worked on the values, and added a limited palette. NOW, I'm officially done and gearing up for some screen print and animation work!!

Still working...
Making some progress on ol' Ron Paul. Who knew painting man-nipple-hair could be so fun? A lot left to finish, but I will have this completed in the next couple of days. I plan on sending this out as my latest self-promotional mailer; with Ron in the news a lot these days, I think the timing will be right.

Ron Paul Resketch.
Still working out the kinks on this sketch. Across the board, the values need to be wrangled. I added a donkey, and the beginnings of some dust clouds (that still need a lot of work) for a "just knocked out" feel. The good news is that it's getting closer to what I originally had in mind.

Ron Paul Value Sketch.
Finally getting somewhere. Quick value sketch. Big thanks to my brother who posed for reference (complete with a tube sock stuffed in his tights), and my 65 year-old father-in-law for agreeing to be photographed shirtless...a memory forever blazed into my brain.
Hopefully onto the finished painting soon!

Ron Paul, Again.
Still some issues with anatomy, hopefully I can work that out in paint....I'm happier with the likeness for sure.

Robert.
The whole time I was drawing him, I was thinking "Man, that chest tattoo had to kill."

Forest IV.
Finished ol' Forest up tonight. I tried a new palette, as well as some new painting techniques in Photoshop.
Here is the photo I used for reference.

Monochromatic Kevin.
Finished monochromatic painting of the Kevin sketch. The drawing was way off, so I spent a lot of time drawing and painting. I also spent quite a bit of time painting upside down (the canvas, not me), and it was really, really helpful.

Nancy Pelosi.
Nancy "Skeletor" Pelosi. Pulled plenty of reference for the drawing, but due to the high resolution I used this image primarily....well, that and this.

Katherine.
Katherine sketch. Squashed her face quite a bit which made her a bit more round (and younger) than she really is. Coincidentally, the result looks a bit like a cross-dressing Corey Feldman going on an audition for a horror film. hahaha.

Elder Watson Diggs
I've been working on a 1-color illustration of Elder Watson Diggs for 1469 Gear. Diggs attended Indiana University, the birthplace of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, and served as Grand Polemarch for the first six consecutive years of the Fraternity's existence. Fun job, great client - more Kappa work coming!!

Read Before Dating.
I recently had an opportunity to illustrate the front and back covers for a nice little book aimed at 'tween girls. As I was gathering reference at bookstores, I did get quite a few weird stares as I rifled through the 12-16 year-old girl section...uncomfortable...
From a subject matter and style point of view, it was a bit different for me - but had a lot of fun! Coming to a bookstore near you.

Crazy Eyes.
It's been a long time. Wanted to see where this painting could go without any preliminary sketches...just started painting. This also gave me an excuse to give Painter 11 a whirl. Not seeing much of a difference with the software, really. I think this is a version most can skip...

I tried to save as many times as possible, in attempts to see where I'm making progress or just noodling. Here are a few lo res process (if you want to call it that) shots:
The good news is that while painting this I came up with an idea for a series...looking forward to that!
